AI accounting software that shows its work

Finovra uses AI to prepare accounting work and explain the numbers, while people keep the final say. The approval controls are built into the ledger today. The assistant is in development; the demo below runs on sample books so you can see how answers will be sourced.

What AI should and shouldn't do in accounting

Language models are good at reading documents, spotting patterns and drafting. They are not a reliable calculator, and they can state wrong figures confidently. In accounting, that is the difference between a helpful assistant and a liability.

So Finovra splits the work. The ledger engine does every calculation and enforces every rule. AI reads through the same queries a person would use, drafts proposals and explains results, and every answer points to the entries behind it.

Try the assistant on sample books

Every answer here was computed by the Finovra ledger engine from sample journals for a fictional company. No model is called and no real company data is shown.

Controls that are built today

Core engine built
  • Agents can only draft

Agent accounts can create draft entries. The API refuses posting, approving, reversing and period locks from them.

  • Review is forced

The database rejects an agent's entry unless it goes to review, and rejects any entry posted by an agent.

  • A different person approves

Nobody can approve an entry they prepared, and a rejection must include a note.

  • Recorded with the model

Audit events record the actor, the agent and the model version behind each proposal.

  • Ask your books

Plain-language questions answered from posted entries, with links to every journal used.

  • Coding suggestions

Suggested accounts for bank transactions and bills, each with its reason, sent for review.

  • Anomaly flags

Possible duplicates and unusual postings raised as exceptions for a person to clear.

  • Accrual drafts

Recurring accruals proposed from prior periods, with the source entries attached.

Questions

Which AI model does Finovra use?
The assistant isn't released yet. Whichever model it uses, its identity and version will be recorded on every proposal in the audit log.
Will AI see all of our data?
It will read only what the requesting user's role allows, and each organization's data is isolated at the database level.
Can we turn AI off?
Agents are separate accounts with their own role. An organization that doesn't add one has no agent activity at all.
